Radio personality Rush Limbaugh introduces Trump. Trump is joined on stage by FOX News personalities Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro. Trump recounts his electoral victory in 2016, criticizes the media and declares that a Democratic takeover of the House will result in a roll-back of administration gains. He also talks about trade, tariffs, the economy, jobs, immigration and a border wall. Candidate Hawley credits Trump with cutting regulations and lowering taxes.

- President Obama delivers the annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress. Obama outlines priorities for legislative action proposing a variety of ways to accelerate the economic recovery including universal preschool and making college more affordable. Saying, "It's not a bigger government we need, but a smarter government that sets priorities and invests in broad-based growth," Obama details new programs but assures listeners there will be no increase to the deficit. He calls for changes to voting processes and an end to extraordinarily long waits to cast a ballot. Obama closes by invoking the memory of those affected by gun violence stirring the crowd by declaring that gun control proposals deserve consideration in Congress and the victims "deserve a vote."

- Olga "Jo" Beltrame, with her husband Ed Beltrame, discusses her career as a union officer and organizer with the United Packinghouse Workers Organizing Committee and UPWOC Local 69. Beltrame talks about her childhood in Montreal, her father's union activity, coming to Detroit to find work at the age of 14, her experiences working at the Swift meat packing plant and what she later did to help organize meat packing plants, especially Swift's Detroit Hammond-Standish plant. The Beltrames both discuss unions and their shared union activities through the years, including their work in organizing meat packing plants across several states, the wage improvements and benefits which were won for workers, and their elected positions in the union. Ends abruptly. The Beltrames are interviewed by John Revitte, Michigan State University professor of Labor and Industrial Relations, and Joan Kelly, editor of the Michigan AFL-CIO newspaper. The first of two interviews.
