- Michigan State University journalism students present a panel discussion entitled, "Bias Busters: 100 Questions About Cultural Diversity - With Answers!" MSU Journalism Professor Joe Grimm frames the discussion and introduces the student panel who talk about their experiences in creating the paperback book series called "100 Questions and Answers...", designed to help break down cultural stereotypes of ethnic minorities in America. Panelist Merinda Valley talks about how the project was started and outlines its goals; panelist Katelyn Kerbrat explains how the group reached out to minority persons in order to learn their experiences in trying to integrate into American culture; panelist Kyle Koehler explains the group's approach to documenting its questions and how they assembled accurate answers to the questions. Panelists take questions from the audience. A breakout discussion session is not recorded. MSU Librarian Hui Hua Chua convenes the session. Part of the Michigan State University Libraries' Colloquia Series. - Michigan State University interim President John Engler, acting C.E.O. of the U.S. Olympic Committee Susanne Lyons, President and CEO of USA Gymnastics Kerry Perry, and Chair of the U.S. Olympic Committee Athlete's Advisory Council Han Xiao testify before a Senate Commerce subcommittee about changes their institutions have made and will make to protect amateur athletes from abuse. Engler is questioned by the subcommittee about an alleged exchange Engler had with Kaylee Lorincz, an abuse survivor of Larry Nassar, in which Lorincz claims that Engler offered her money to drop her civil suit against MSU. Engler denies this allegation and says that while he did meet with Lorincz without her attorney present, he never offered her money.

- May Yamaoka, a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bombing, says that she was born in Lodi, California, went to Japan to attend school and was called an 'enemy' by her classmates after the war began. She also talks of finding her sister in a pile of corpses after the bombing and about returning to the U.S. after the war and being interviewed by American newspapers soon after her arrival. She vividly recalls the day of the bombing and says that she now prefers to live alone.

- President Obama speaks on the need for comprehensive immigration reform and outlines a proposal for increased border security and penalizing businesses that knowingly hire undocumented workers. He proposes an option for the 11 million illegal workers already in the country to earn citizenship, and streamlining the current system for legal immigration. Obama compliments the efforts of a bi-partisan group of senators who announced their immigration reform plan the previous day but says that if Congress can not pass its own immigration reform legislation "in a timely fashion," he will send his own bill and "insist that they vote on it right away."

- President Obama presents the 2012 National Medal of Arts to 12 individuals and the National Humanities Medal to another 12 individuals, during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House. Obama comments on the work and accomplishments of several of the recipients saying "you never know who will be touched by it." An unidentified military aide reads the official citation for each recipient as Obama presents the medals.
