- Leila Tarakji, a graduate student in the Department of English at Michigan State University, delivers a presentation on the book "The Moor's account". The historical novel, by Laila Lalami, is an imagined memoir of the life of the first black explorer of the Americas, Mustafa al-Zamori, a Moroccan slave whose story was left out of the historical record. Tarakji prepares the audience to discuss the book. MSU Librarian Deborah Margolis convenes the event and introduces Tarakji.
