- Allen Van De Vusse discusses his career as a payroll auditor and paint department production manager at the Fisher Body plant in Lansing, MI. He is joined by Louise Dean who discusses her career as a GM salaried clerk/secretary and her husband John Dean, who discusses his varied career as a production worker, plant security officer, supervisor, Safety Director, and maintenance manager. With careers spanning five decades the speakers describe changes in the plant culture, sexism, disparate treatment, plant security, relations with upper management and the UAW, and comment on manufacturing processes and life in the factory.

- Karen tells of being hired in May 1978 after waiting overnight to put in an application and being overwhelmed on the first day. She describes a workplace that was like a "meat market," few women but mostly young, on the second shift and suggests that the second shift was a "party shift." Karen talks about workers helping each other and making gate collections for injured and ill coworkers.

- Antique automobile restoration expert Dan Shafarman talks about his interest in REO motor cars and his difficult search for parts to fix a REO Royale. Shafarman also talks about his life before coming to the Lansing, MI area in 1969, mass production techniques in the auto industry, bad working conditions in the early car factories, Henry Ford’s hiring and pay practices, corporate paternalism, and the "novel" idea of paying workers enough to afford to buy the products they built. Recorded as part of the commemoration of REO Motor Car Company’s 100th Anniversary.

- Lansing autoworker Gary Watson, president of UAW Local 652, discusses his career at the General Motors Oldsmobile Main Plant in Lansing, MI. He talks about being born near Lansing, starting at the GM Fisher Body plant in 1957, moving to Oldsmobile after a series of layoffs and recalls, becoming a journeyman tinsmith and active in the union, efforts to desegregate the skilled trades, and bringing women into the trades. Watson also talks about being a local president, training new committee people, teaching existing members about unionism and the UAW, how his local and the international UAW function, how decisions are made, and why the union conducts political action efforts, and community projects. Watson is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations.

- Jack Down, an R. E. Olds Transporation Museum volunteer and former REO Motor Car Company/Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc. employee, recalls his experiences with the company and his life in the Greater Lansing, MI area. Down talks about his youth in East Lansing, attending Michigan State College, his jobs prior to working for REO, the factory buildings and land around the plant, the REO Clubhouse, and the beginnings of the REO Motor Car Company and the Oldsmobile and Fisher Body operations in Lansing. He also discusses the tragedy of owner Francis Cappaert raiding the REO worker's pension fund and the turmoil of the Lansing Labor Holiday and the labor confrontation known as the Battle of the Red Cedar. The interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.
