- Booklet containing the Ninth Annual Report of the Commissioners of Parks and Boulevards to the Common Council of the City of Detroit from July 1, 1897 to June 30, 1898. The report contains information concerning the physical and financial states of various Detroit parks, including Belle Isle, Clark Park, Palmer Park, and Grand Circus Park, in addition to photographs and illustrations of scenes from various parks. This particular copy contains an insert affixed to the title page reading "To David Parsons: Compliments of... Edw. C. Van Lewyen. Commissioner."

- Color postcard depicting the Casino on Belle Isle, with Lake Tacoma in the foreground. Printed on verso: Casino, Belle Isle. - Detroit's principal recreation spot, is an island in the Detroit river connected with the city by a bridge, 8 feet less than half a mile in length. It comprises 702 acres, is over two miles long and boasts of over 20 miles of fine macadam roadway, which completely circles and frequently intersects it. A fine zoo, aquarium, horticultural building, swimming and skating pavilions, casino and boat livery are in connection. The city has expended over $1,500,000 on it since its purchase in 1879. - Catalog for the Detroit Aquarium, located on Belle Isle, copyright 1912 by the Detroit Zoological Society and printed 1914 by the Peninsular Engraving Co. The front cover of the catalog reads "Detroit Aquarium" at the top center and "Catalog at the bottom center, and features two depictions of seahorses. The back cover features an etching of a tortoise. Affixed to the first page is a fold out map, "Preliminary Plat of Woodbridge Park within the boundaries of Westgate." The title page of the catalog reads "Official Catalog of the Detroit Aquarium Richard J. Conway, Director," and then lists the officers, directors, ex-officio members, and executive committee of the Detroit Zoological Society. Pages 5-7 contain a brief history of Belle Isle. Page 9 contains a paragraph about the Detroit Aquarium, and then pages 11-46 contain descriptions of the species that could be found in the Aquarium along with illustrations of select species. An index can be found on page 47.

- Color postcard depicting an elevated view along a canal on Belle Isle. In view are a bridge crowded with people, many canoes on the canal, people on the shore, and the band stand in the background. Printed on verso: Canoes, Band Stand and Bridge over Canal, Belle Isle. Canoeing is the leading sport at Belle Isle, Detroit's largest playground. Its 702 acres are threaded by many miles of canals and lakes, affording an ideal spot in which the light little craft cruise about by thousands. Band concerts are given at the city's expense during the summer afternoons and evenings and on such occasions the canoeists are present in great numbers. - One sheet, containing pages 659-662 of the August 17, 1889 supplement to Harper's Weekly. Pages 660-661 contain a composite print of eight illustrations of Detroit, titled "The City of Detroit and Its surroundings," drawn by Charles Graham. The captions for the eight drawings are as follows: 1. The Market, from City Hall. 2. The Grand Circus. 3. The Bagley Fountain. 4. The River with Revenue-Cutter at Anchor. 5. Old Block-House on Grosse Isle. 6. Grosse Isle. 7. Lumber Tow. 8. Excursion to Belle Isle. The opposite side of the sheet, containing pages 659 and 662, contains a portion of a story, "A Hazard of New Fortunes," by William Dean Howells, a poem, "The Enchanted Wood," by Flavel Scott Mines," a map of Alaska, and an article, "The Behring Sea Dispute."

Printed on verso: Bathing Scene, Belle Isle. - Belle Isle is in the Detroit River, between Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The Island contains 702 acres and it entirely covered with one of the most beautiful parts in the United States, having some 21 miles of Macadam Roads; a magnificent Casino, Pavilions; Boat Houses, Aquarium, Horticultural Hall and Zoological Gardens. The Island was purchased by Detroit in 1879 and has since then expended $1,600,000 in beautifying it. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Sep 23, 1913.

- Color postcard depicting an elevated view of Central Avenue on Belle Isle, with an automobile, bus, and pedestrians in view. Printed on verso: Central Avenue, Belle Isle, Detroit, Mich. Belle Isle Park contains about 700 acres and has cost Detroit including bridge leading to it about $2,000,000. It has beautiful lawns and Floral displays, also many miles of driveways and canals. It has a Zoo, Horticultural Building and Aquarium. Refreshments are served at both Casino and Pavillion. It was bought from the Chippewa and Ottawa Indians for eight Barrels of rum, three rolls of tobacco, six pounds of vermillion and a belt of wampum, by Lieutenant McDougall in 1769. In 1879, 110 years afterward it was sold to Detroit for $200,000. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jul 12, 1922.
