In view are Monroe Street, the Wayne County Building, Cadillac Square, Hotel Pontchartrain, and signs reading "Fatima Cigarettes", and "Goodrich Tires". Printed on verso: Bird's Eye View of East Side, Detroit, Mich. This View shows three of the Main Thoroughfares of Detroit, Cadillac Square at Right, Gratwit [sic] Avenue in Center and Monroe Avenue at left giving a general view of the East Side of Detroit. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Feb 16, 1916.

- Large black and white photographic print depicting City Hall decorated in mourning of President William McKinley following his assassination on September 14, 1901, as viewed from street level in Campus Martius facing west. A large painting of him has been hung above the building's doors, and large dark drapes are hung along the building's front. A horse-drawn carriage, several cyclists, and many pedestrians are in the foreground. Electric streetcar lines are suspended overhead. Peninsular Savings Bank is visible in the background down Fort Street.

- Mounted, sepia-toned photo of the Detroit Opera House following the fire which claimed in on October 7, 1897, as viewed from atop the Second Williams Block, facing northwest. The upper floors of the Opera House have collapsed and rubble fills its lower level, spilling out on the sidewalk. The roof of the building containing Mitchell's Table Supply Company to the right, and, in the background, the south face of the Henry R. Leonard Furniture Company are visibly damaged as well. Barricades have been set up around the buildings' facades, and a large crowd has gathered along them in Campus Martius. Signs for actor Robert B. Mantell's appearance on October 11 are still visible on the building, next door on the Mitchell Table Supply Company building, and even on the barricade. Another sign hung on the Mitchell Table Supply Company reads, "Orders will be filled and patrons taken care of at store cor. of Woodward and State sts. Employees report there." The photo is mounted on grey cardstock. On the verso, the photo was mis-captioned as, "El Paso, Texas, Probably the Meyer Opera House - after fire."

The fountain is turned off, and ice and icicles are visible within. Snow coats the ground and stairs to the right of the fountain. A pedestrian walks past in the background.

- Small sepia-toned photographic print depicting Monroe Street as viewed from across Campus Martius, however the image is incorrectly captioned on the verso as "Cadillac Square as viewed from City Hall, March 10, 1918." The camera was positioned near the curb in front of City Hall. A streetlight pole is to the right. A car passes heading south on Woodward Avenue. Pedestrians, other automobiles, and electric streetcars also traverse Campus Martius. The Detroit Opera House is in the background on the left. A large sign reading, "Join the Navy for Quick Action," has been posted adjacent to it. The businesses of the Monroe Block, including a pool hall, are in the central background. A billboard for Blackstone Cigars has been posted atop the Second Williams Block. Remnants of winter slush cover the street and sidewalk.

Detroit's City Hall which stood at Campus Martius, on Michigan Grand Avenue (now Cadillac Square) is depicted as viewed from Campus Martius facing southeast. Several people stand in front of the building, while several other people sit in the shade on the building's north side. Stalls used for the Central or City Hall Market are visible behind the building. In the background, along Michigan Grand, signs are posted for U.S. Tobacco Works, R.G. Tyler Teas, National Bitter, H.H. Wallace, Ira Shade, Hiram Stanskil, and S.H. Davis and Company. The photo has a rounded top and is mounted to a piece of yellowed cardstock bearing the title and "J. Watson, Artist, Detroit" below.
