"With a history dating back to 1917, the Children's Museum began as a joint venture between the Detroit Board of Education and the Museum of Art. It was noted as a "Museum within a Museum." A three part program of services was developed featuring classes at the museum, loan collections for schools and children's activities after school, on Saturdays and on vacation days.
