- Two sepia-toned albumen cabinet cards bearing portrait photographs of a fireman who is standing beside a small table. His hand is resting a small statue that is on the table. The fireman is wearing his uniform which includes a long, double-breasted coat, decorative belt, and cap. His belt has the letter, "T," on the buckle. On one copy his collar has been hand-colored in purple, and badge shows the handwritten number, "4," while the other copy has the handwritten number "2" on the coat matching the "2" on his hat's badge. Handwriting on the verso notes "Frank Walsh."

- Photograph (1 positive print and 1 negative print). Sepia-toned photo showing one fireman seated at the steering wheel of a 1910 Packard rescue wagon. The wagon has the number, "30," shown on the side. Fireman's helmets as well as a folding canvas life-saving net are visible on the side of the wagon. Large wooden doors (possibly of a fire station) can be seen in the background of the photo. The number, "0488b,"is written in the lower right corner of the photo. The name of the photographer, "Spooner & Wells, Inc., 1231 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich." is stamped in blue ink on the verso.

The name of the photographic studio is mostly torn off at the bottom of the image, but it likely was "F. Friend" which matches other similar photos in this collection. - Mounted sepia-toned group portrait photograph of seven uniformed firefighters. The original accession record identified two of the men standing in the top row--although it is unclear as two which exactly--as James Shea, and Timothy Callahan, and listed Richard Filbin and John O'Neil as being among the three men seated in the front. The man at the top right wears a helmet and belt identifying him as a member of Continental Company No. 8. He rests his hand on the shoulder of the men seated in front of him who wears a kepi hat and a belt also with the number "8." The two men standing in the center wear matching uniforms including firefighter belts identifying them as belong to one of the rescue companies. The both rest their hands on the shoulder of the man seated below them in the center, who wears a kepi hat, and a firefighter belt, the writing on which, "Stee[...]," is rendered partially illegible by glare. The man on the top right wears a helmet and firefighter belt which identifies him as a member of Neptune Company No. 2. A man with a kepi hat, and a rescue company belt sits in the lower right. Two helmets from Ladder Company No. 1 are positioned on the ground between the seated subjects. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock.

- Mounted sepia-toned photo showing nine firemen and the equipment of Engine Company No. 3 in front of the fire station on Clifford Street. The firemen are standing in front of a horse-drawn hose wagon and a horse-drawn steam fire engine. The brick fire station building with large wooden doors can be seen in the background. Decorative stone carvings that depict a fire department motif (crossed ladders and helmet) can be seen on either side of the fire station above the windows. The street name sign showing "Clifford St." can be seen just to the left of the crossed ladders motif. A wood frame building can be seen at the far right side of the photo along with three men who are standing near the rear end of the steam engine. Handwriting on the verso notes "Engine Co. #3 c.1871."

- Color postcard depicting a fire truck drawn by three horses, with ten firemen aboard. Printed on verso: The Detroit Fire Department is considered one of the best equipped in the country, and their promptness in responding to alarms is remarkable. The magnitude of the department is scarcely realized by the majority of the people. It requires the services of 630 men to handle the 32 engines, 13 trucks, 3 hose companies, 340 horses, 1 water tower and 2 fire boats. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jan 22, 1911.

- Color postcard depicting ten firemen aboard an automobile, with buildings in the background. Printed on verso: The Detroit Fire Department is being rapidly fitted out with automobile fire fighters. This view shows one of the departments responding to an alarm and going through the street at a rate of 75 miles an hour in one of their 30 H.P. Packard Motors Cars. This machine, known as the 30 squad wagon and carrying 12 men, is equipped with hand extinguishers and can easily take care of incipient fires. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked May 1912.

- Sepia-toned albumen photo of the Firemen's Memorial in Elmwood Cemetery. The Memorial consists of a round white stone column (probably marble) that is mounted on an ornate carved, 4-sided white stone base. A carved figure of a fireman, who is shown with a downcast gaze, is standing on top of the column. The front of the base shows a raised carving of a fireman's helmet and the lettering, "Firemen." A planted flower bed occupies the area around the monument base. Also, there are two large flower urns on each side of the monument. Several ornamental fire hydrants are visible in the foreground and gravestones can be seen in the area beyond the flower bed.

- Sepia-toned photo of a fire at the Detroit News. The view is probably looking eastward on W. Fort Street with the Old Post Office building visible on the far left side of the photo adjacent to the "Postal Telegraph Office" signs. Snow can be seen on the street and a horse-drawn sled is visible near the center of the photo. A smoky haze hangs overhead along the street in the background. Many spectators are standing in the street and fire hoses can be seen in the snow.
