- Photograph. Glossy black and white photo of 1922 Ahrens-Fox High Pressure Apparatus car. The car has been photographed in the middle of a street. Several wood frame and brick houses are visible in the background. A typewritten label at the bottom of the photo notes "Ahrens Fox high pressure car in the Detroit, Michigan, fire dept." and the number, "602," is shown in the lower right corner. A typewritten label on the verso notes "1922 Ahrens-Fox High Pressure Apparatus; This apparatus was used with the old high pressure hydrant system in downtown Detroit. This truck was originally designated as High Pressure No. 1 located at Wayne and Larned Sts. and is still in service today as a reserve boat tender for the fireboat. Photo courtesy of C. Woodward." - Large sepia-toned group portrait photograph of the firefighters of K.C. Barker Company No. 4, posed with their horse-drawn fire engine in front of their fire station, presumably at Orchard Street and Fifth Street during a memorial event for Abraham Lincoln. A young girl in a dress decorated with a ribbon, a harp, a small portrait of Lincoln, banners, garland, and a small flag are on the engine. The majority of the firefighters wear matching shirts, pants, helmets, and belts printed with "K.C. Barker." The men standing on the engine wear peaked caps, and one standing on the rear also wears a belt identifying him as an engineer. Two of the men on the far left hold bugles. One of them wears a "foreman," belt, the other wears one that is only partially legible, "2nd A[...]." The two men to their right both lean on an upright hose nozzle. The station in the background is a two-story brick structure, and two people peer from its upper windows. A hose apparatus is in the street on the left edge of the frame. Several spectators are also visible in the background. The photo is mounted on linen.

Tables of fuel consumption and mileage on their apparatus are on the final pages of the book. The book is bound in a stained green cover with red corners. "42," is handwritten on the cover.

- Hardcover letter book containing duplicates produced with a letter copying press of letters mailed by Detroit Fire Marshals George Dunlop and William H. Baxter, as well as an Assistant Fire Marshall James E. Tryon, spanning October 10, 1877 to September 11, 1886. The letters are mostly in chronological order, with a tabbed alphabetical table of contents section at the front listing the recipients. The book is bound in a brown cloth-covered cover. "Letters," and "Fire Marshall" are printed on the spine.

- Detroit Fire Department active duty certificate engraved by Capewell and Kimmel and dated July 17, 1855. The spaces for the name of the firefighter has been left blank. The document bears the signatures of President Jerome Croul, Treasurer Alexander Paton, and Secretary Benjamin Vernor, beside a blue embossed Fire Department of the City of Detroit seal. Illustrations of uniformed firefighters, an early fire apparatus and firefighting equipment, the seal of the State of Michigan, and Neptune flanked by two winged monsters are bordered by scrollwork. The certificate is mounted on linen.

- Invitation card to the Fifth Annual Fireman's Ball held by the Association of Ex-Members Detroit Steam Fire Department at Bamlet's Hall on Grand River Avenue and Rowland Street, on Monday, April 16, 1900, printed in red on white. The Metropolitan Band are listed as the entertainment. A brown and red illustration of a horse-drawn fire engine serves as the background. The ticket price is listed as $1. "No. 0" is printed in the lower right corner. It has been embossed with a seal consisting of a loop of fire hose encircling a ladder, and a crossed hook, ax, and bugles, beneath a fire helmet.

- Resolution, printed on a large piece of cardstock, from the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit memorializing Mark Henry Gascoigne following his death. The resolution is signed by James E. Tryon, Peter Henkel, Benjamin Vernor, Rufus W. Gillett, and Jerome Croul. The resolution reads: At a meeting of the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit held January 19, 1885, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted Whereas God in his infinite wisdom has removed from the walks of life Mark H. Gascoigne, Superintendent of the Telegraph of the Detroit Fire Department. A man who was ever faithful and ever true in the performance of the duties of his position. In recognition of this closing of a long career as an Officer of the Department of the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit does hereby Resolve, That in the death of Mark H. Gascoigne the Fire Department has lost a most efficient officer: the city an hones and good citizen and devoted servant and the world a noble chivalrous man who lived for the good of his fellows. Resolved, That while the ties which bound him to the Commissioners Officers and men of the Department by hooks of steel have been severed by the hand of Death, his bright record of good works will live forever, pictures which shall adorn the walls of memory until times shall be no more. Resolved, That his fidelity and staunch loyalty to duty justly entitles his name to a place on the roll of honor as one who has wrought unceasingly to uphold the standard of this Department. Resolved, That this preamble and resolutions be spread upon the record of the Commission, and a copy there of be placed in the Central Office of the Fire Alarm Telegraph; and a copy transmitted to the family of the deceased. - Sepia-toned photo of a fireman who is standing beside a speaking trumpet that is resting on a small table. The fireman is wearing his uniform which includes a long, double-breasted coat, decorative belt, and fireman's hat. The number, "1," is visible on his badge and belt buckle. In the collar area, his shirt appears to be hand-colored in purple. Handwriting on the verso notes, "W. Cooper, Capt. Ladder Co. No. 1; Time Book Record A-117; Died Sept. 2, 1884."

- Cabinet card bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulder portrait photograph of a ranking Detroit Fire Department firefighter, in profile facing the left. He has a moustache and goatee, and wears a kepi hat with two crossed bugles on its badge, with a double-breasted coat. The photo was previously housed on the right side of a three-part cardstock frame with alongside a photo of James Battle, and another ranking firefighter. "October 1881," is handwritten on the verso.

- Sepia-toned gelatin silver photo of the firemen of Engine Company #6 in front of the fire station building. A horse-drawn steam fire engine is parked in the street and a separate horse-drawn hose wagon is parked behind it. Seven firemen are standing in front of the two vehicles. One fireman is seated in the driver's seat of the fire engine and another in the driver's seat of the hose wagon. The name of each fireman is written along the bottom of the photo as follows (left to right): Peter Ortwine, Max Worth, Charles Little, Peter Smith, Frank Kelliger, Dan Carroll, Billy Werner, Ted Denier, Jim O'Grady. Several bystanders can be seen in the background and a policeman is standing at the far right. The brick fire station building shows the number, "6," carved in the keystone over the central doorway. The structure also incudes a watchtower and five people are standing on the balcony. On the left side of the building (midway up at the corner), the street name sign, "Russell St.," is visible. The word, "Russell," can also be seen on the glass of the streetlight that is located behind the fire engine. Handwriting on the verso notes "Man on extreme right is Henry Miller, policeman. A noted character in the Police Dept." and also "This is one of two engines and crews who went to Chicago fire in 1871. No. 3 was the other."

"Detroit Photographic Co." is written in the lower right corner of the print. "With compliments of Wm. Cason," handwritten on verso. Matting is green cardstock.
