- Photograph of the official delegation which attended the inauguration of the first American YMCA hall in a German prison camp. Dignitaries attending the celebration included Dr. Carl Stange of the University of Goettingen (standing in the front row from left to right), Ambassador James W. Gerard of the United States, and Colonel Bogen (commandant of the prison camp). Archibald C. Harte, the American YMCA representative, stands in the front row to the right. Allied prisoners stand in the background in front of the YMCA hall.

- A British prisoner of war painted this view of the town of Changri and the fortress from the Barracks Field. Art work provided POW's with a pastime during their captivity. Allied prisoners played a variety of sports on the Barracks Field to help them stay in physical shape.

- This photograph shows the front and back of a banjo made by a British prisoner of war during his incarceration in a Turkish prison camp. The back of the banjo features a picture of a mosque and minaret and has crescent moon and star decorations. Musical instruments were a critical source of entertainment for POW's.

- Several Christmas trees stand on a platforms in the prison compound at Theresienstadt, probably outside of the YMCA building. The prisoners have decorated the trees with paper chains and ornaments. On the right hand side of the platform sits an accordion, which will bring music into the camp.

- This bill-board stood on the bridge over the Rhine River at Coblenz and provided information for American doughboys, on occupation duty in Germany, regarding social services offered by the YMCA, the Knights of Columbus, the Red Cross, the Jewish Welfare Board, the Salvation Army, and the YWCA. Red Triangle services dwarfed those of the other American welfare agencies as indicated by the programs highlighted on this sign.

- Prisoners augmented their meager diets at Soltau by gardening using seeds provided by a YMCA secretary. Rations could become monotonous in prison camps and fresh vegetables helped improve POW diets.

- French and Russian prisoners of war line up in the camp compound at Stargard in preparation for departure for labor details outside of camp. The German guard is organizing the POW's into Arbeitskommandos. Allied POW labor helped redress the loss of German workers mobilized for military service in World War I.
