Several crewmembers are standing on the foredeck and one fireman is operating a fire hose nozzle above the pilothouse. - A mounted, glossy, sepia-toned photographic print of the "Launch of Fireboat James Battle," as titled at the lower left corner. The fire tug, stern facing the camera, is being side-launched and is kicking up a splash at Wyandotte's Detroit Shipbuilding Company. Crowds are visible along the sides of the dock, as well as on the roof of a structure in the foreground. A sailor, adjusting his footing, is on the deck of the JAMES BATTLE. "Detroit Photographic Co." is written in the lower right corner of the print. "With compliments of Wm. Cason," handwritten on verso. Matting is green cardstock.

- Mounted black and white panoramic image of the fire tug JAMES BATTLE being used to fight the fire which claimed the Belle Isle Bridge on April 27, 1915, created from two overlapping photos. Firefighters stand at the bow of the BATTLE, on the right side of the frame with its port side to the camera and the Detroit shore of the Detroit River, while smoke rises from the remaining trusses of the bridge on the right. Several bare columns, and another smoldering truss are visible further across the river in the background. The caption, "Burning of the Belle Isle Bridge, April 27, 1915," is printed along the bottom of the mat board.
