Cunningham's Drugs is at 100 South Washington Avenue. The Holly Lansing Grill is at 104, Baker's Shoe Store at 106. Across Michigan Avenue are seen the Bank of Lansing at 103 North Washington Avenue and the Tussing building at Ottawa Street. City Planning Division staff annotated and trimmed the photo.

- Located at 114 North Grand Avenue. Photo shows red flames roaring in the night outlining the Hotel Kerns fire of December 11, 1934, in which at least thirty-four people were known dead. Here a section of the front wall buckles as firemen at the lower right back away.

- Shows an interior view of the Hotel Kerns lobby. A man with a pipe reads a newspaper in the foreground. There is a shoe shine chair and a tobacco counter, and the double doors in the background lead into the hotel's cafeteria.

Directly ahead in the photo are the United States Federal building and Post Office, Michigan Bar Association, Auto-Owners Insurance, YMCA, and buildings comprising the General Motors-Oldsmobile complex. To the right, the Estes-Leadley funeral home is seen.

- Johnnie's Grill at 224, Plaza Hotel at 222 1/2, Hofbrau Bar at 222, and Granse Dance Studio at 220 North Washington Avenue. City Planning Division staff trimmed the photo. City Planning Division staff trimmed two photographs for assembly into composite views. The images do not match perfectly; gaps have intentionally been left in the composition shown. City Planning Division staff placed sequential numbers at the bottom of each piece: "F30" and "F29".
