- Thomson's Jewelry Store was the scene of famous triple murder and robbery in 1913. Above the store entrance is the lettering “107 J. J. Thomson 107” (107 Canal was the address before 1912). The windows are lettered “Diamonds,” “Watches,” “Cash or credit,” and "$1.00 a week.”

A part of the Ottawa Station of the Lansing Board of Water and Light can be seen behind the stores on the north side of East Ottawa Street.
