- Looking north from Kalamazoo Street. Few cars and no pedestrians are seen in the 300 block; perhaps it is a Sunday. The Penny's sign has been removed from the building. The Home Dairy Company building has been modified - it was purchased by the law firm Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith.

- A Chevrolet is prominent in the photo. From right to left, S. S. Kresge department store at 114, Harryman Shoes at 118. Tom Green Shoes at 120, and Cunningham Drugstore at 122 South Washington Avenue are in the Hollister building. Knapp's department store can be seen at 300 South Washington Avenue.

- Merritt & Bailey Shoes at 112 North Washington Avenue, Christian Supply Center upstairs at 112 1/2, National Distributors at 114, and Public Loan Corporation at 114 1/2 are seen. City Planning Division staff cut the photo and made several annotations. One of which indicates that 112 was formerly Kleinhans Men's Wear.

- Located at 334-336 South Washington Avenue. Kroger, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., Hotel Lansing, McFarlane's Drug Store, and State Savings Bank are visible. Two copies. Originally part of the Stebbins Collection.

- Description:
- Landscaping used to breakup the hard surfaces and form the area for parking spaces. The view looks northwest toward the southern end of the west side of the 200 block of Washington Square South. At the corner, at 234 Washington Square South was Touch of Class art and craft store. Next, Kimmel's greeting cards at 228, Fanny Farmer candy at 226 and the Vogue clothing at 224. Behind the stores can be seen the Michigan National Bank parking ramp; the ramp was later demolished due to damage from salt-caused corrosion. To the right of the ramp, or north, is the rear of the Masonic Temple that faces on South Capitol Avenue. The photo is printed on photographer's proofing paper intended for short term use only and has cropping marks and other annotations.

- Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1039 at 401 and Lansing Broadcasting (WILS-AM) at 407 on the left, west side of North Washington Avenue. Lansing Storage at 440 North Washington is seen across North Washington at the north end of the block. A pedestrian approaching the camera is holding up an issue of the "Watchtower" paper.
