- Several men in suits standing at the entrance to the new Lansing Fire Department Station No. 1. The men are most likely members of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners. The board members' portraits appear in the booklet "Lansing Fire Department: Dedicated to the Saving of Life and Property" which was published in approximately 1950. The brochure credits George Beak, Communications Division, and Frank Mainville, Press Photographer, for the photographs in the booklet.

- From the left, at South Washington Avenue, the sign for Ellison Book Shop at 101 is difficult to discern. Next, Norris Jewelry Repair at 103, Phoenix Optical at 105, Pacific Finance Loans at 107, American Laundry at 111, Downtown Parking Lot at 117, Hal Clark Tailors at 121 and American Bank and Trust at 123 East Washtenaw Street. An automobile is seen turning into East Washtenaw from South Grand Avenue. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo. The photo's emulsion has been lost in a small area at the bottom of the photo.
