The other side reminds soldiers what Christmas was like back home and how the war means that they may never make it home for turkey, sherry, or Christmas pudding. It told the soldiers that the safest place to be in Italy was as a P.O.W., where they would be fed, have cigarettes, and would be guaranteed to see Christmas at home again.
