- Children sitting on the floor. Some play with dolls or on a teeter totter. An American flag hangs in the room. No teacher is seen. The kindergarten teacher at East Park School in the 1925-1926 school year was Violet Plaga. East Park School was built in 1916 to replace a two-room school on Lesher Place on the east side of what was then called East Park. The park's name changed to Oak Park in 1926, and the school name changed then to go along.
