- One lease agreement, dated 8 February 1865, made between Peter Desnoyers of Detroit, party of the first part and Arouet Richmond, Frederick H. A. Backus, and Benjamin B. Richmond of Detroit, parties of the second part. The agreement is printed in black text on white paper with blank lines that have been completed in handwritten black text. The text indicated that Peter Desnoyers was leasing rooms in a building located at 185 Jefferson Avenue to the parties of the second part for four years for a total amount of $2400.00. All parties have signed their names at the end of the lease agreement in the presence of two witnesses, "Harmon DeGraff" and "N. M. Macalister." Two U.S. Internal Revenue stamps have been affixed to the agreement form in the upper left corner in the amounts of five dollars and one dollar. Both stamps feature a red and white engraved design with a bust of George Washington at the center.
