Jefferson Avenue runs horizontally in the foreground. Michigan Avenue, and Gratiot Avenue extend into the corners of the background. Moonlight towers are visible rising among the buildings. The image is credited to J.R. Chapin and the Photo-Electrotype Engraving Company of New York. A smaller secondary scene across the bottom of the print shows a variety of ships and boats on the Detroit River--including the LANSDOWNE, EXCELSIOR, GREYHOUND, CITY OF CLEVELAND, and ALMA MUNRO--with the city's riverfront in the background.
