- One navigational chart entitled, "Lake Superior Chart No. 3" that was compiled and published as part of the Survey of the Northern and Northwestern Lakes (War Department, Corps of Engineers). It was "Projected from a Trigonometrical Survey" that was executed under the orders of Lt. Col. W. F. Raynolds and Major C. B. Comstock of the Corps of Engineers as well as from local surveys done by Capt. J. N. Macomb, Capt. G. G. Meade, and Col. J. D. Graham of the Corps of Engineers. The chart is drawn at a scale of 1:400,000 and shows the western end of Lake Superior from Duluth, Minnesota, to the western end of Isle Royale. Land areas are shaded in various gray textures based upon existing land characteristics. Lake areas are shown in white. Distances are given in statute miles. Soundings for lake depths are given in fathoms. Lines of latitude and longitude are shown in black. Lighthouses are also shown along with notes for sailing directions, dangers and water level data. The chart was originally published in 1873, but a note indicates that aids to navigation have been corrected to January 1, 1880. An adhesive label in the upper left corner shows "Detroit, Mar. 5th, 1884, Presented to the Tug, Chas. E. Bird."

The drawing consists of black ink on linen and shows a plan view of the layouts for the "Lower Deck Aft" and "Lower Deck Forward." - One sepia-toned photograph of the tugboat, Zenith, controlling the aft end of a bulk cargo freighter (name unreadable) which appears to have a bent gunwale at the transom. Another tugboat is towing at the bow of the freighter. The three vessels are underway in fair weather on a river. The photographer has signed the photo, "C.T. Benham, '06," in the lower right corner. A blue ink stamp on the verso shows "C.T. Benham" and handwritten pencil text shows "Tug Zenith."
