- Description:
- Photograph. Black and white photo of a Wayne County Road Commission workman who is seated on the back of a truck and is operating a paint striping machine that is being towed behind the truck. The truck is moving along the right side of a concrete road while a wheel is applying a solid line of white paint along the centerline. It appears that pressure tanks and hoses are being used to coat the wheel surface with paint which, in turn, is being applied it to the pavement surface as the wheel rolls along the road. A large metal container (similar in shape to a milk container) can be seen on the back left side of the truck and was probably used to carry additional paint. Farm fields and utility pole lines can be seen on both sides of the road. An oncoming car can be seen in the center background. A farmhouse and barn can be seen in the right background. An interurban track line can be seen on the right side of the road along with mile marker post "21" and a sign with the letter, "W." Another sign can be seen in the distance between the farmhouse and barn, but the text is not legible. The date, "Aug-25-'22," is handwritten in the lower right corner of the photo. A black ink stamp on the verso shows "Michigan Dept. of State Highways, Office Services Division, Photographic Section, Print File No. copy 8-30-50."
