The caption above the image reads, "Detroit 1908-Same Area As View Above." Below the image, "What Detroit has accomplished in the past, is the best evidence of its future prosperity" is printed. The pictured print depicts downtown Detroit, and areas to the west, rough from Fourth Street to Raynor Street, and State Street to the Detroit River. Visible landmarks include the Wayne County Building, Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, the Majestic Building, City Hall, the Pontchartrain Hotel, the Post Office at Fort and Shelby, and the Ford Building. Several steamships, including those of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company, the COLUMBIA, and the LANSDOWNE are pictured at dock or under steam. - Print containing six engravings, taken from the booklet, Souvenir of Detroit & Exposition, depicting locations in Detroit, spread across two leafs. The long image at the top right is a scene, captioned, "Detroit harbor showing water front of city and character of shipping." Several dock workers move bags and barrels at the bottom, while in the background, sailing ships and steamships travel along the river. Below, another long panel depicts a north-facing view of Woodward Avenue, extending from Campus Martius. Shops on the corner of Michigan Avenue, and Woodward Avenue, including Hudson and Symington are depicted. The Opera House is also pictured, housing J.L. Hudson's. An optician, Hull Brothers Family Groceries, and Chas. A. Werner Glassware are depicted as well. Several moonlight towers are visible in the distance. Harper Hospital is in the topmost of the three panels, arranged vertically on the far right. Below are the police headquarters at Bates Street and Farmer Street and the house of correction at the present site of Eastern Market.

- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the Opera House following the fire that consumed it in 1897. Much of the Opera House and the surrounding block, including the Henry R. Leonard Furniture Company, Wright, Kay, and Company and Michell are destroyed. The photo was taken from an elevated position, across Campus Martius, facing northeast. Monroe Street extends along the right edge of the frame, and Woodward Avenue is at the lower left. A portion of the moonlight tower in front of City Hall rises along the right edge of the frame. A crowd is gathered in Campus Martius. Signs are visible in the background for H.J. Caulkins Detroit and Michigan Dental Depot, and D.M. - Black and white street view photograph from a glass plate negative of the south side of Cadillac Square, from Woodward Avenue. Pedestrians are visible walking the thoroughfare as well as waiting on the neighboring sidewalk. Automobiles are also parked along the adjacent avenue. Neighboring the thoroughfare are many commercial structures including the, "Goebel Building; American Paint and Glass; The Paint Shop; and the Imperial Tea Company. The Pontchartrain Hotel is visible in the right side of the image. Written on the verso, "Cadillac Square, south side, first block from Woodward, looking east, 1910."

Detroit's City Hall which stood at Campus Martius, on Michigan Grand Avenue (now Cadillac Square) is depicted as viewed from Campus Martius facing southeast. Several people stand in front of the building, while several other people sit in the shade on the building's north side. Stalls used for the Central or City Hall Market are visible behind the building. In the background, along Michigan Grand, signs are posted for U.S. Tobacco Works, R.G. Tyler Teas, National Bitter, H.H. Wallace, Ira Shade, Hiram Stanskil, and S.H. Davis and Company. The photo has a rounded top and is mounted to a piece of yellowed cardstock bearing the title and "J. Watson, Artist, Detroit" below.

- Print. Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print of an event, likely a memorial for Ulysses S. Grant, following his death in 1885, held in Campus Martius around the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. The photo was taken from an elevated position facing southeast. The monument is decorated with banners and flags, and cloths bearing a large letter G which are fastened around the pedestals beneath the eagles. Several people are seated on a stage in front of the monument. A uniformed marching band and a row of uniformed men on horseback are also within a square around the monument circumscribed by a line of men in parade uniforms and helmets. A large crowd spreads outward which consists of well-dressed men (many in boater hats), women, and a few horse carriages. The balconies and windows of the Central Market Building, in the upper left portion of the frame are also packed with spectators, as are the windows of the neighboring building across Cadillac Square at the upper right.

- Black and white photo of City Hall and the Majestic Building as taken from a window of the Russell House to the southeast. Woodmere, Brush, and Woodward line streetcars are in Campus Martius, including cars 386 and 290. A horse-drawn cart carrying several large potted ferns is on Ford Street beside City Hall's lawn. Several horse-drawn carriages are on Woodward in front of City Hall. A man in a white suit picks up horse droppings in the intersection of Woodward and Ford using a large scoop and a shovel. A moonlight tower stands on the south corner of Woodward and Michigan Avenue. Signs for C.A. Shafer are posted on the side of the Majestic Building. A mimeographed caption is on the verso, along with an impression of a photo of William C. Maybury: This picture was taken in the central business portion of the city of Detroit from a window of a hotel known as the Russell House.. The hotel is situated on the South East corner of Woodward Avenue and Cadillac Square. The photograph is made from a negative taken in the fall of 1900 and is a fairly good representation of exterior photography, at this date. The photograph was made by C.M. Hayes and Co., a firm engaged in general photography.

The Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument stands in the center of the frame. Along the north side of Cadillac Square are the Second Williams Block topped with a Walker and Company sign for Goodrich Tires, Stilwill's Cafe, a candy store, the Burns Hotel, and other signs advertising Diamond Tires and Altes Lager. The Pontchartrain Hotel stands on the south side of Cadillac Square. To the west at the far end of Cadillac Square is the Wayne County Building. Three streetcars pass in the foreground, pedestrians mill about, and cars are parked in front of the Pontchartrain Hotel. "Cadillac Sq. 1914," is printed in the lower left.

The streets are filled with crowds of people and a row of horse carriages is proceeding west on Michigan Avenue, possibly as a funeral procession. Visible signs on storefronts include, Job Printing, a jewelry store, and L.L. Farnsworth's Shoe Store in the corner building. To the right, in the Fisher Block is Randall's Daguerrean Gallery, and in the neighboring building, Weber Furniture Company's Warerooms. "Campus A.D. 1870" and "Detroit, Mich." are handwritten in marker in the photo's upper left and right corners. The photo is mounted on black cardstock with an embossed frame around the photo. "C.C. Brewe, Com'l Photographer, 205 Griswold St. Detroit, Mich" stamped on verso. "Mrs. Roy Chatfield" handwritten on verso along with an illegible address.

Roesink Clothes, the Detroit Opera House, Norton and Company, Bond's Clothes, Kaufman Hats, United Cigars, a restaurant with a sign that simply reads, "Lunch," are in the midground. The Merrill Fountain, the bust of Governor John Judson Bagley, a tent labeled "War Camp Community Service," pedestrians, automobiles, small buses, and electric streetcars are visible in Campus Martius. Along Monroe Street in the background are the Ste. Clair Hotel, Garry's Clothes Shop, the Palace Theatre, the National Theatre, Dr. Pilmore's Dentists, and the other pool halls, and loan offices of the Monroe Block. Billboards for the Thompson Auto Company and Velvet Tobacco are posted. The photo is affixed to a heavy black cardstock backing, and remnants of blue tape surround it. "Walker & Co. Electric Sign" is handwritten along the bottom of the matting. "1918" is handwritten on the verso.
