- Black and white print of a portrait photograph of workers posed in front of and on Hurlbut Memorial Gate during its construction. Several of the workers pose wearing aprons or holding tools, including stone mason John A. Bauer who stands wearing an apron and a bowler hat atop a brick pillar on the far left. Wooden frames hold up elements of the gate's stone work, and scaffolding is visible within the gate. Wooden cranes have been erected in front of and beside the gate. On the ground around the gate, piles of rubble surround pieces of unfinished stone work. "1894" has been handwritten in pen in the lower left corner.

- Cabinet card. Sepia-toned cabinet card bearing a portrait of Charles Ernst. He is pictured with his hands clasped behind back, his hair parted in the middle, and wearing a mustache. He is dressed in a dark-colored suit jacket with tails and pants with a light-colored dress shirt and bow tie. "McMichael, 212 Woodward Ave, Detroit," is printed on the lower right corner of the card. "Brother Charlie Feb 14, 1902," is handwritten on the verso.

- Description:
- Sepia-toned panoramic group portrait composed of two photos pasted together of a gathering of members of the Detroit Goodfellows posed outside of the American Printing Company. The groups is composed of men clad in coats, hats, aprons printed with "For Base Ball Results, The News," and newspaper carrier bags. Snow covers the ground. Signs, one on a post in the foreground and the other on a windowsill in the back, read, "Detroit Christmas Fund. Old News Boys. 'No Kiddie Without a Christmas.'" The foreground sign has been retouched to darken the text. A circled "1" has been drawn beside one of the kneeling men at the lower left.
