- Both sides of East Ottawa Street are seen. On the left is the Dodge Building with the Senate Grill. Further east is the Trowbridge Manhattan Club tavern. On the right, Kay's Jewelry and Luggage faces North Washington Avenue. Stores to the east include the Keith Bartow Music Shop, Barker-Fowler Electric Company, Central Car and Truck Rental and VanDevoort Hardware Company - Boat Division. A part of the Ottawa Station of the Lansing Board of Water and Light can be seen behind the stores on the north side of East Ottawa Street.

- At right is the end of the Gladmer Theatre at 233 North Washington Avenue. Moving left, in the same building, Randall's Health Foods is at 231. Continuing south, Silver Lead Paint at 229, Western Auto Supply at 225, Emery-Pratt office equipment at 223, Epicure Tea Shop at 221, MacLaughlin Music at 219, National China at 213, and Firestone Tires at 211. The block ends with the Tussing building at West Ottawa Street, home of the Palms Theatre at 209 and the College Drugstore at 201. Buildings seen to the south include the Bank of Lansing at 101 North Washington Avenue, Prudden building on South Washington and West Michigan Avenue, and the Michigan National Tower at West Allegan Street and South Capitol Avenue. - From the left are seen Cunningham Drugs on the street level of the Prudden Building with its entry off West Michigan Avenue, Archy's Lounge, House of Beef, and Hotel Olds on the south side. On the north side are seen the Bank of Lansing, Western Union, Jury-Rowe and the Lansing Police Headquarters. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo and cut off one corner. - Seen from high in the State Capitol Building. At the time of the photo, Washington Avenue had been closed as a street and converted to a mall north of Michigan Avenue and parking south of Michigan. Also, Jim's Tiffany Place restaurant at 116 East Michigan is seen in the photo, on the right between Washington and Grand.

- Heath Jewelry at 218, Rosenberger's Home Decoarting Store at 216, and the Eagle Cafe at 214 North Washington Avenue. City Planning Division staff trimmed two photographs for assembly into composite views. The images do not match perfectly; a small gap is seen in the composite. City Planning Division staff placed sequential numbers at the reverse of each piece.

- Looking north. Taken near Ionia Street, looking to the northeast. On the the west side, to the left in the photo, are seen Dubois and Hughes seeds and sporting goods at 307-309, Columbia Studios photographers at 313, Sams at 317. The east side, to the right, is too far away to see many details. Signs are seen, however, for American Cleaners at 326, Leonard's Wholesale Distributing at 322-324, Carl's Grill at 320, and LaRowe's Sewing Center at 318. Buildings in the 400 block, beyond East Shiawassee, are in the background.
