- From the period when South Washington Street was used as parking lots from Michigan Avenue to Kalamazoo Street. According to Lansing City Council Proceedings from October 3, 1966, the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of South Washington were to be turned into a Parking Mall starting November 21, 1966. On June 9, 1989, Council ordered that the attended parking operations were to be eliminated.

- Area included by and surrounding Washington Avenue, Ottawa Street, Capitol Avenue, and Hillsdale Street. North is to the right. One of two variants.

- Description:
- Landscaping used to breakup the hard surfaces and form the area for parking spaces. The view looks northwest toward the southern end of the west side of the 200 block of Washington Square South. At the corner, at 234 Washington Square South was Touch of Class art and craft store. Next, Kimmel's greeting cards at 228, Fanny Farmer candy at 226 and the Vogue clothing at 224. Behind the stores can be seen the Michigan National Bank parking ramp; the ramp was later demolished due to damage from salt-caused corrosion. To the right of the ramp, or north, is the rear of the Masonic Temple that faces on South Capitol Avenue. The photo is printed on photographer's proofing paper intended for short term use only and has cropping marks and other annotations.

- Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1039 at 401 and Lansing Broadcasting (WILS-AM) at 407 on the left, west side of North Washington Avenue. Lansing Storage at 440 North Washington is seen across North Washington at the north end of the block. A pedestrian approaching the camera is holding up an issue of the "Watchtower" paper. - Looking west from Grand Avenue South. Many businesses can be identified in this two-block view. To the right, the nearest building held the Hotel Strand on its second floor. Michigan National Bank Tower (Boji Tower) can be seen to the rear at South Capitol Avenue.

- Both sides of East Ottawa Street are seen. On the left is the Dodge Building with the Senate Grill. Further east is the Trowbridge Manhattan Club tavern. On the right, Kay's Jewelry and Luggage faces North Washington Avenue. Stores to the east include the Keith Bartow Music Shop, Barker-Fowler Electric Company, Central Car and Truck Rental and VanDevoort Hardware Company - Boat Division. A part of the Ottawa Station of the Lansing Board of Water and Light can be seen behind the stores on the north side of East Ottawa Street.

- Appears to have been taken from the Commerce Center Building at South Capitol Avenue and West Washtenaw Street. Beyond the park can be seen the Capitol Park Motor Hotel on Lenawee and Townsend Streets and the Young Men's Christian Association. The roof level of the municipal parking ramp at 316 South Capitol Avenue is in the foreground. The Board of Water and Light's Eckert Power Station is in the background with its seven smokestacks, behind the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors Corporation.
