- Democratic leaders Representative Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Senator Charles Schumer (NY) meet with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Trump talks about legislation pending in Congress and declares that his proposed border wall will be built. Pelosi offers to work with Trump and suggests that he should expect the House to pass his budget and provide funding for the border wall. Schumer says that there are compromises that could be made to accomplish Trump's legislative objectives and still keep the government from shutting down. Both Pelosi and Schumer agree that the country needs tighter border security but they do not agree that a wall will promote security. Trump says that if the borders are not secured, he will shut down the government.
