- Beginning in 1890, the Rochester Post Office was located in Theodore Dahlmann's Jewelry Store on the left hand side of the photograph. On the right is the Hacker Grocery and Meat Market, operated by Tom Hacker. Tom is one of the gentlemen in a white apron standing in the doorway. - After the Rochester Pavilion Hotel burned down in 1877, this site sat vacate for nearly 10 years. In 1888, R.O. Smith built this two-story brick hotel, called the Sidney House.
