- The mill was located on Mill Street on the south end of Rochester, along the Clinton River. This brick structure was built on the site of a previous mill, which was built by Stephen Mack (1766-1826) in 1824 and was destroyed by fire in 1875. At the time, it was owned by William H. Barnes (1829-1903), who operated it as a paper mill until his death. It then changed hands over the years, being known variously as Barnes Paper Mill, The Peninsular Paper Company, the Rochester Paper Company, and the James River Company. The mill finally closed in 2002 and the building was razed in 2005. Addressed to Miss Myrta Bond of Detroit, Michigan. (RRP-302) Ray Russell Postcard Collection
