The poster shows a sketch of a woman who is drinking from a straw that is causing sugar-laden ships to be diverted to the United States which would have otherwise been available to carry supplies for the war effort in Europe. Additional printed text notes "For your beverages 400 million lbs. of sugar were imported in ships last year. Every ship is needed to carry soldiers and supplies now." The artist's name, "E. - One poster entitled "DLG Roll of Association of Veterans Corps." The poster is printed in black text on darkened paper and was printed for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the organization of the Detroit Light Guard which took place on November 16, 1880. The poster includes the handwritten signatures of approximately 100 veterans of the Detroit Light Guard (DLG) who were present at the celebration. Most of the signatures are legible and three of them are: Frank C. Trowbridge, Fred E. Farnsworth, and Henry A. Newland.
