- Ken Germanson, Allied Industrial Workers international union staff member, AIW newspaper editor, and president of the Wisconsin Labor History Society (WLHS), talks with Michigan State University Labor and Industrial Relations Professor Emeritus John Revitte via telephone. They discuss pending labor conferences at which they they hope to present, the founding of WLHS, AIW members and leaders they know and the varied attitudes among workers about unions. They also talk about the division among labor activists and anti-war activists in the late 1960s and early 70s and how that played to management's advantage, early socialists and how some of them were racist while others were pro-civil rights and other possible topics they might discuss in the future, including health and safety, collective bargaining, pensions and plant closings.

Germanson and Revitte talk about their long association, projects they have collaborated on, and their careers. Germanson compares the AIW with the United Auto Workers in terms of how they handled grievances and race relations, the makeup of AIW membership, its political leanings, and the history of the AIW as it navigated the 1930s, 40s and 50s. Gernamson describes steps to racially integrate the AIW, and explains how the union survived allegations of widespread corruption. - Robert Brenner, former regional director for the Allied Industrial Workers (AIW) Region 7 in west Michigan, talks about his family and early life in Battle Creek, MI, playing professional baseball, enlisting in the Army Air Corps in August 1942 and serving in the Southwest Pacific. He also talks about his union organizing efforts, working his way up in leadership positions, and serving as a labor representative on several state boards and commissions including, the State Board of Canvassers and the Occupational Health and Safety Commission. Ends abruptly. Brenner is interviewed by Labor and Industrial Relations professor John Revitte.

- Walter Campbell, former Regional Director for the Allied Industrial Workers (AIW) Region 7 in west Michigan and former Secretary-Treasurer of the Michigan State AFL-CIO, talks about AIW President Lester Washburn testifying about union corruption before a Senate committee, the merger of the AFL and the CIO in 1955, the creation of the UAW-CIO and the UAW-AFL, efforts to evict communists from the union ranks, and charges of widespread union corruption. He also talks about numerous labor leaders with whom he was acquainted, his duties as Secretary Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, being appointed to the state unemployment board by Michigan Governor Williams, and his own efforts to bring the building trades back into the AFL-CIO. Campbell is interviewed by Lisa Fine, Michigan State University professor of History, and John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial relations.

- Bill Braman, retired regional representative of the Allied Industrial Workers (AIW) union, talks about his youth and coming to Lansing in 1961 and starting at Motor Wheel in 1965. He says he quickly became involved in the union and became president of his local in 1970 and recalls strikes in 1971 and 1974, the split with the UAW, and getting to know UAW leader Walter Reuther and AIW leader Lester Washburn. Braman also talks about Lansing politics, becoming President of the Greater Lansing Labor Council, and retiring from the AIW 1996. Braman is interviewed by Labor and Industrial Relations professor John Revitte.
