- Seen from high in the State Capitol Building. At the time of the photo, Washington Avenue had been closed as a street and converted to a mall north of Michigan Avenue and parking south of Michigan. Also, Jim's Tiffany Place restaurant at 116 East Michigan is seen in the photo, on the right between Washington and Grand.

The east side, to the right, is too far away to see many details. Signs are seen, however, for American Cleaners at 326, Leonard's Wholesale Distributing at 322-324, Carl's Grill at 320, and LaRowe's Sewing Center at 318. Buildings in the 400 block, beyond East Shiawassee, are in the background.
