- Mounted sepia-toned group portrait photograph of the firefighters of Hose Company No. 1 posed with their horse-drawn hose apparatus, in front of the entrance of the Detroit Fire Department Headquarters. Each man in identified through a handwritten caption beneath them. W. Heck sits on the driver's bench of the apparatus, holding the reigns of the two-horse team. F. Arnold, T. Drury, C. Walsh, and G.S. Goldwater stand lined up beside the apparatus. A relief over the door of the headquarters reads, "Fire Department Headquarters, 1882." Two large bay entrances to the building are also in the background. The bay doors for the one behind the Hose Company No. 1's apparatus are open. "Hose Co. No. One, Taken August 15th 1903." is handwritten in ink at the bottom center of the photo. The photo is mounted on grey mat board.

Armstrong, and Master Mechanic Francis Beaufait, as well as a photo of Detroit Fire Department Headquarters on the northeast corner of Wayne Street and Larned Street. Images of several pieces of firefighting equipment for a design surrounding the portrait of Battle, and the left edge of the image. A.G. - Resolution, printed on a large piece of cardstock, from the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit memorializing Mark Henry Gascoigne following his death. The resolution is signed by James E. Tryon, Peter Henkel, Benjamin Vernor, Rufus W. Gillett, and Jerome Croul. The resolution reads: At a meeting of the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit held January 19, 1885, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted Whereas God in his infinite wisdom has removed from the walks of life Mark H. Gascoigne, Superintendent of the Telegraph of the Detroit Fire Department. A man who was ever faithful and ever true in the performance of the duties of his position. In recognition of this closing of a long career as an Officer of the Department of the Fire Commission of the City of Detroit does hereby Resolve, That in the death of Mark H. Gascoigne the Fire Department has lost a most efficient officer: the city an hones and good citizen and devoted servant and the world a noble chivalrous man who lived for the good of his fellows. Resolved, That while the ties which bound him to the Commissioners Officers and men of the Department by hooks of steel have been severed by the hand of Death, his bright record of good works will live forever, pictures which shall adorn the walls of memory until times shall be no more. Resolved, That his fidelity and staunch loyalty to duty justly entitles his name to a place on the roll of honor as one who has wrought unceasingly to uphold the standard of this Department. Resolved, That this preamble and resolutions be spread upon the record of the Commission, and a copy there of be placed in the Central Office of the Fire Alarm Telegraph; and a copy transmitted to the family of the deceased. - Black and white photo of two firemen who are seated on a small wagon that is being drawn by three horses. Several brick and wood frame residential houses are visible in the background. Handwriting on the verso shows "D.F.D. approx. 1902. Eng. 9 exercise wagon shown with the steamer horses. If a fire company had no runs within a 24 hour period, the horses were exercised in local streets near the station houses. In the event of a fire, they would be notified to return to the station by ringing the tower bell."

- Photograph. Glossy black and white photo of 1922 Ahrens-Fox High Pressure Apparatus car. The car has been photographed in the middle of a street. Several wood frame and brick houses are visible in the background. A typewritten label at the bottom of the photo notes "Ahrens Fox high pressure car in the Detroit, Michigan, fire dept." and the number, "602," is shown in the lower right corner. A typewritten label on the verso notes "1922 Ahrens-Fox High Pressure Apparatus; This apparatus was used with the old high pressure hydrant system in downtown Detroit. This truck was originally designated as High Pressure No. 1 located at Wayne and Larned Sts. and is still in service today as a reserve boat tender for the fireboat. Photo courtesy of C. Woodward." - Invitation to the Sixth Annual Ball of Lafayette Fire Company No. 4 at Firemen's Hall on Thursday, January 5, 1854. The invitation contains the motto, "At danger's call we're prompt to fly, and bravely do, or bravely die." at the top, as well as an illustration of an early fire apparatus, a list of honorary members, and a list of members of the company. The invitation is mounted on another piece of paper, with faint sets of numbers handwritten on the verso in pencil, with the name, "R.S. Stuart."

- Cabinet card bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulders portrait photograph of Detroit Fire Commissioner James W. Sutton. Handwriting on the verso notes "ex-commissioner, James W. Sutton." This photograph is one of a series of eight photos of former Detroit Fire Department Commissioners. A decorative engraved logo on the verso shows "Randall, Photographer, 220 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich."

- Invitation form letter to a dinner addressed to Major Henry B. Brevoort from the Detroit Fire Department, printed on stationery with a header of an eagle grasping a banner that reads, "e pluribus unum." The note reads: The Fire Department of the City of Detroit, Respectfully solicit the Company of Maj. H.B. Brevoort at Dinner, near the National Hotel, in celebration of the approaching Anniversary of American Independence, on Monday the 5th inst. Detroit, July 2, 1847 Committee: Jno. R. Williams Zina Pitcher R.E. Roberts "Rec. July 4th at 2 PM," has been handwritten at the top of the note.

- Color postcard depicting ten firemen aboard an automobile, with buildings in the background. Printed on verso: The Detroit Fire Department is being rapidly fitted out with automobile fire fighters. This view shows one of the departments responding to an alarm and going through the street at a rate of 75 miles an hour in one of their 30 H.P. Packard Motors Cars. This machine, known as the 30 squad wagon and carrying 12 men, is equipped with hand extinguishers and can easily take care of incipient fires. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked May 1912.

- Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, printed by the Detroit Lithographic Office, and issued to Mark A. Gascoigne on Feburary 23, 1867. The document bears the signatures of President John Hyland, Treasurer James A. Elliott, and Secretary John Kendall, beside a green adhesive embossed Firemen's Fund Association seal. Illustrations of a firefighter speaking into a bugle, as two other firefighters hold a hose, as well as of a team of firefighters riding in an early self-propelled steam-driven fire engine are on the left side of the certificate. The certificate is mounted on linen.
