- A group of Allied tuberculosis patients stand outside the hospital ward in the quarantine camp at Giessen. A German sentry stands on guard duty to the left along the camp fence. War prisoners detected of communicable diseases were isolated from the general prison camp population to prevent the outbreak of epidemics.

- British prisoners scrub down the camp laundry at Limburg under the command of German guards. The stoves connected to the chimney heat water which is usually used by the POW's to wash their clothing inside this facility.

- The Germans regularly used prison labor to improve the region's transportation infrastructure. French POW's are constructing a narrow gauge field railway at Minden I, under the supervision of German guards.

- Russian prisoners play mandolins and violins while two POW's dance in the compound in Czersk. German non-commissioned officers watch the entertainment. These performances provided a great deal of entertainment for war prisoners.

- Interned French civilians and POWs accompany the casket of a dead friend to the cemetery at Parchim. The procession is led by a cross bearer and the casket is draped with flowers. The Catholic priest, who will officiate at the funeral, marches in front of the casket. German officers pay their respects standing among the French war prisoners.

- This photograph, taken early in the war, shows British prisoners of war lounging about on the ground with a lot of free time on their hands and nothing to do in a new German prison camp. The arrival of YMCA secretaries resulted in access to sports equipment and the organization of leagues to promote POW health and morale.

- French prisoners of war line up to buy refreshments at the canteen in the prison compound at Erlangen. The canteen appears to be well stocked with provisions, suggested by the goods in the window. French and Russian prisoners relax in the shade of a shed to the right. A group of POW's in the middle of the photograph are in a playful mood; one of the French prisoners gives his fellow inmate a pair of "horns" with his fingers.

- This was the main entrance to the prison camp at Goettingen, which is next to the prison administration building where the commandant had his office (to the left). Some of the camp's barracks can be seen behind the sentry post.

- The prison orchestra at Doeberitz, composed of British prisoners, is about to give an outdoor concert in front of a barrack. Prisoners are equipped with a wide range of musical instruments and have wooden music stands, most likely produced in the prison carpentry shop. Note the camp bulletin board on the wall behind the orchestra which announced news and orders.
