- American International College Professor of History Gary Jones delivers a talk entitled, "'Russia in America, Cossacks in Pennsylvania': The Department of State Police and Early Twentieth Century Conflict in the Coalfields". Jones explains the creation of Department of State Police in Pennsylvania to supplement the Coal and Iron Police and to take over strike policing from the National Guard. Jones describes their training and tactics for dealing with strikes, crowds, and riots and the reaction of the unions to the brutality of the police. A question and answer session follows. Jones is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck.
