"At precisely 1:30 p.m. on Monday, 8 March 1937, thousands of factory workers at nine Chrysler plants in the Detroit area simultaneously walked out of their workplaces or sat down in the factories, the well-planned sit-down strike continued until 25 March, when the workers evacuated the plants, Chrysler operations remained shut down until two weeks later, when the Chrysler Corporation signed an agreement with the United Automobile Workers of America-CIO (UAW)," from Riding the Roller Coaster: A History of the Chrysler Corporation, by Charles K.
