Description:
The seat and back pads of this modular seating, in the collection of The Henry Ford, are a heat sealed sandwich of black Naugahyde, vinyl foam and Fibrethin that are stretched within a chrome frame. The pads are held between polished aluminum casting and each have two black molded urethane arms on each to complete the seat. Between the seats is a rectangular center table made of white plastic laminate and black vinyl edging. All of this sits on a chrome base with black metal crossbar. This piece was part of a series called the Eames Tandem Seating System. The Eames Tandem Seating was designed prim ally for use in public places, such as airports. This particular piece was designed originally for Dulles Airport, Washington, D. C.
