C. D. Finkbeiner

C. D. Finkbeiner of the Dynamic Kernel Program circa 1939. Finkbeiner, 1880-1949, was a Saline Township farmer. He provided the first cubic inch of wheat seed for the Henry Ford and Perry Hayden Dynamic Kernel Project. For many years he was a member of the Michigan Crop Improvement Association of Michigan State College. Between 1922 and 1924 he won four silver cups for his wheat and oats entries at the Michigan State Fair in Detroit. In 1925 he was crowned "wheat king" at the International Hay and Grain Show in Chicago. The wheat seed he developed was shipped all over the United States and to Ireland in 1943. Mr. Finkbeiner was featured in the film, "God is My Landlord," the movie on the wheat tithing program organized by Perry Hayden of Tecumseh. In 1941 Michigan State College awarded him the Bibbins Trophy for meritorious work in the production and marketing of small grains.
