- This letter to Maj. Gen. Fife speaks of Nightingale's concerns regarding needed irrigation work in India when budget cuts were almost sure to occur. She was concerned for the Indian people, and saddened by the recent famine and the ongoing Afghan war. She had great concerns and requested an immediate meeting with Maj. Gen. Fife, specifying she would like to meet with him the same day that the letter was delivered to him. She also asked him about the official number of deaths in the recent famine, since she did not receive an answer when she asked that question previously.

- Letter written to General Major James George Fife of Wayne State University, regarding a potential meeting between Gen. Major Fifle and Mr. Edward Prinsep, who was involved in improving the infrastructure of India. Nightingale stated that she hoped the two could meet in the near future since both were familiar with facts of the ongoing sanitary issues of India, as well as the fact the Mr. Prinsep would be staying in England for a short time.

- In this letter to Lt. Gen. Fife, Nightingale expresses her concerns regarding the budget cuts the Public Works was facing, which would seriously diminish the irrigation improvements that were vital to the improvement of the lives of untold Indians. She goes on to ask Lt. Gen. Fife his opinion of a Revenue Report, which talks about budget cuts. She also asked if he had met with Mr. Prinsep about these topics and the idea of colonizing waste lands for indigenous peoples. Nightingale requests that Lt. Gen. Fife share his opinions in writing by that same evening.
