- This is a small collection of assorted family papers from the Edmond family of Lansing. It spans from 1850 to 1989 with the majority of the materials dating to prior to 1900. Items include club membership cards, event invitations and wedding announcements for many of Lansing's society families, business and personal accounting notes and diaries, and other personal records such as National Guard service certificates. The collection also includes some manuscript material: an essay about early Lansing, a description of a Bement Co. Labor Day parade float photograph, poetry by James P. Edmonds' father-in-law N. B. Jones, and others. John W. Edmonds was a prominent Lansing pioneer. He moved from New York State in 1854 and established a trunk and leather goods business, eventually partnering with Charles Cannell, a partnership that would last 36 years. Their business was succeeded by the Liebermann Trunk Co. Edmonds was also an organizer of the Lansing Fire Department and served as chief engineer for a time. He was Second Ward alderman, and also treasurer of the local school board for 12 years. His son James P. Edmonds served as City Treasurer before co-founding the Bates & Edmonds Company, which manufactured motors, in 1899. He was also known as an unofficial historian for the city of Lansing, collecting many early photographs and memorabilia. He wrote "Early Lansing History" which was published in 1944. - An oral history from Hank Reniger, the owner of Reniger Construction Company, which was responsible for significant commercial construction projects in the greater Lansing area. Mr. Reniger was interviewed by Geneva Kebler Wiskemann at a building that was then in use as his private museum collection, 317 E. Grand River (Franklin) Ave. A transcript for this recording is linked with the audio files below.

- A small collection of correspondence and photographs related to the Whiteley and Zimmerman families. These materials were possibly collected by Nellie M. Whiteley Zimmerman, whose name appears frequently in them. The collection also includes a disbound, oversize volume of what appear to be personal receipts for all kinds of household goods such as paint or contractor services; personal items like clothing and perfume; antiques and other home decorations; insurance; utility bills; membership renewals for fraternal organizations, clubs, etc.; and lots and lots of pigeon seed. Nearly all receipts have Nellie Zimmerman's name on them. The materials from this volume date from 1929 to 1953, and represent many local businesses and organizations in the Lansing area, including their often illustrated letterheads. The Whiteley family home was located at 414 South Washington Street in Lansing around the turn of the century. Photographs of the home are included in this collection, as are several portraits both identified and unidentified. Some may not have been taken in the Lansing area. The correspondence in the collection is mainly of a personal nature, to Nellie (Whiteley) Zimmerman or her mother Elizabeth. Most dates from before 1900.

- This collection of family papers and memorabilia starts with a family tree of the descendants of Dr. Henry Palmer (1827-1895), who was a Civil War surgeon and then became the surgeon general of Wisconsin, based in Janesville, Wisconsin. The collection was assembled by his grandson Frederick Hoyt Taylor's second wife Martha Mongeau Taylor. It includes photographs, letters, memorials, small publications, news clippings, textile fragments, a handwritten memory book, and a baby book. Related family names that appear in the collection include Dr. Palmer's daughter Elizabeth Palmer Taylor and husband John Siebert Taylor (who was the MAC/MSU director of bands in the 1910s); their son Frederick Hoyt Taylor; Dr. Palmer's son Dr. William H. Palmer; Dr. Palmer's daughter Stella Palmer Sabin and her family.
