Property being acquired by the railroad or the state for right-of-way purposes is tinted in yellow, red, and blue according to a corresponding legend. The map is drawn at a scale of 1 inch = 50 feet. A handwritten note in the lower left corner shows "D.M.M.R.R. Engineers Office, St. Ignace, March 3d of 87 [1887], J. H. Orvis, Eng."
