- Description:
- Color postcard depicting the interior of the Conservatory on Belle Isle, with many plants and flowers. Printed on verso: Horticultural Building, Belle Isle. - Detroit's principal recreation spot is an island in the Detroit river connecting with the city by a bridge, 8 feet less than half a mile in length. It comprises 702 acres, is over two miles long and boasts over 20 miles of fine macadam roadway. A fine zoo, aquarium, horticultural building, swimming and skating pavilions, casino and boat livery are in connection. The city has expended over $1,500,000 on it since its purchase in 1879. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked 1912.

- One letter, dated February 20, 1909, from Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Company of Buffalo to Mr. W. G. Turner of Montreal. The carbon copy letter is typewritten in blue ink on yellowed vellum paper. The letter acknowledges receipt of a certificate for 95 shares of stock in the Abbey Effervescent Salt Company.

- One drawing entitled "Design for 40 Ft. Motor Launch for U. S. Lake Survey." The plan is drawn in black ink on linen at a scale of 3/4" = 1 ft. and is dated October 3, 1925. This sheet, No. 1 of 2 sheets, shows plan, profile, and cross section views with dimensions for the proposed 40 foot, wooden-hulled motor launch. The title block in the lower right corner shows the plan being "Submitted By: F. G. Ray, Associate Engineer" and "Approved [By]: G. B. Pillsbury, Lieut. Col., Corps of Engineers."

- Hardcover journal of the activities of Ladder Company No. 21, recording alarms, fires, orders, and other events, spanning April 25, 1925 to November 7, 1925. It appears to have been written by several people. Inventories of gasoline, motor oil, and equipment have been noted on the final pages. The book is bound in a dark green worn cover with red corners. "Ladder Co. 21." is handwritten on the cover. Six laundry sheets from the Detroit Fire Department Bureau of Buildings and Grounds have also been included between the log's pages.
