- Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing two employees of the Edison Illuminating Company who are seated in a company truck. The vehicle is parked beside the median on Washington Boulevard and the men are wearing heavy overcoats and hats. The vehicle is right-hand drive with the steering wheel being located on the right side. Its engine compartment is covered with an insulating blanket and the ground is lightly covered with snow. A fountain is running in the boulevard median which is creating a winter ice sculpture. The 4-story brick building in the center background area is the Edison Company building (formerly Station A of the Edison Illuminating Company) and the name is shown on a lighted sign at the corner and in stone at the top of the building. Part of St. Aloysius Catholic Church can be seen at the far left side of the photo. A date in the lower right corner of the photo shows "1-14-14." An accompanying typewritten note shows "This photograph was sent to L. C. Nanry by Jack Redfield, appliance service supervisor for Consumers Power, 9/22/58. Employees shown in truck are: driver - Joseph Henrion, passenger - Fred Lemelin."

- One set of architectural "Specifications for Mr. Samuel J. Hardenbergh for a Solid Brick One Story, Three Apartment Garage Building Located on the Rear of 203 Avery Ave. Between Lysander & Forest Aves., Detroit, Michigan." The specifications (Job 271, Set No. 4) are bound in a booklet that has two brass fasteners at the top. The cover is made of heavy tan paper and includes typewritten text for the title. Printed text beneath the title shows the name, "J. Lawson Miller, Architect." The cover interior and outside back cover have printed advertisements for many contractors, tradesmen, and building materials suppliers. The booklet contains 18 pages of typewritten text that give brief descriptions of all of the materials and construction requirements for the project.

- Description:
- A letter from Ralph Emery, a clerk working for the Detroit Stove Works, to his father, Robert T. Emery, in Belfast, Maine, dated September 28, 1886. The letter is written on Detroit Stove Works letterhead, which features a lithograph, credited to the Calvert Lithograph Company, depicting the Detroit Stove Works offices in Detroit and Chicago as well as the company's foundry in Hamtramck, Michigan. The letter reads: My dear Father, Was glad to receive your last letter + to learn you intended to take a trip to Boston, it will do you much good, when you return I hope Mother will go as she needs a rest + she will enjoy the tip very much. Please remember me to Dr Emery, the Crowninshields, + any others whom you see that I know. Am glad you were successful in getting something out of the Alabama claims. is the $955 - net, that is, free from commissions. Was much surprised to learn of [W?].E. Goulds defalcation, he was the last man I ever expected of such a thing. I used to know him quite well + see him often in Portland + Boston. His daughter is a great friend of [Sue?] Ross. If you have any papers at the Club or Press Office that vies full account of the affairs wish you would cut the articles and send them. If you have the Portland Press at the Office it would give probably fullest accounts - Like the "City Press" very much - You did not write me how you were succeeding in getting subscribers - Think it cannot help bring answers. Soldiers and Sailors Monument built in 1881 at a cost of $70,000. The red building at right is the Hammond Building. The electric sign on top of building is one of the finest in the west and when in action gives a description of the famous Chariot Race of Ben Hur. - Invitation note and envelope from Governor Hazen S. Pingree to the Michigan Legislature for a complimentary dinner on December 18, 1900 in the Executive Parlor of the Capitol. The note includes Pingree's signature and an orange embossed Michigan seal with a blue ribbon. The envelope is embossed with the mark of Wright, Kay, and Company.

- Color postcard depicting a view along a curved road on Belle Isle, lined with trees. Printed on verso: Drive Way, Belle Isle. - Detroit's principal recreation spot, is an island in the Detroit river connected with the city by a bridge, 8 feet less than half a mile in length. It comprises 702 acres, is over two miles long and boasts over 20 miles of fine macadam roadway. A fine zoo, aquarium, horticultural building, swimming and skating pavilions, casino and boat livery are in connection. The City has expended over $1,500,000 on it since its purchase in 1879. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jan 19, 1910.

Garr at the upper left corner, bottom left corner, and lower right corner. The top center image is of B. Cronin and D. Breen leading the horse drawn fire engine No. 3 out of their firehouse. A small unlabeled photo of what appears to be a hose apparatus is at the upper right. Several firefighters posed with the 1st automotive of Company No. 3 are pictured at the center left. A shot of the firefighter-lined ladder apparatus of Ladder Company No. 1 labeled as the "Bull Moose," in front of a wall painted with a sign for the Detroit News is positioned on the center right edge. Engine Company No. 3's automotive and Ladder Company No 3's apparatus are pictured racing down the street at the bottom of the composition. The matting is decorated with scrollwork and chain patterns.
