He also explains the nature of his social commentary and the career he has built, which includes teaching art and running his cartooning business. Motswetla plays excerpts from an animated HIV prevention series he has created. Michigan State University Librarian Randall Scott talks about the MSU Libraries' comic art collection and his goal to build a strong African comics component. Kurt Dewhurst, director of arts and cultural initiatives at MSU, explains the university's outreach efforts in Africa. MSU Librarian Peter Limb convenes the event and introduces Motswetla. - University of Illinois graduate student Andrew Tenopir-Lundeen delivers a talk entitled "Tales From The Vault: The Special Collections Provenance Project". Tenopir-Lundeen worked on the Provenance Project while serving as an intern at Michigan State University Libraries' Special Collections unit in 2013. He defines the word "provenance" in relation to special collections and talks about using bindings, bookplates, and margin notes to help determine rarity, age and ownership of the volumes. Lundeen answers questions from the audience and is introduced by Head of Special Collections Peter Berg. Part of the MSU Libraries' Brown Bag Series held in the Main Library.

- Dr. David Cooper, Michigan State University Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures speaks at an event titled, The Robert Coles papers: Journeys of an MSU archive, held in the MSU Main Library. Cooper discusses the career of renowned child psychiatrist Dr. Robert Coles and his collected papers which are now part of MSU Libraries' Special Collections. Cooper comments on the significance of the Coles archive at MSU and Coles' life and contributions to the fields of psychiatry and education. Cooper and Peter Berg, Assistant Director for MSU Libraries Special Collections also talk about the adventure of bringing the collection to MSU, its physical condition, preservation concerns and the process of cataloging the materials. Both also discuss how the Robert Coles collection is currently being used by scholars for social and literary research. David Gift, Vice Provost for Libraries Computing and Technology introduces the event. Part of the MSU Libraries' Colloquia Series.

- In an oral history interview, Ed Barton, volunteer curator of the "Changing Men Collection" in the Michigan State University Libraries' Special Collections unit, talks about the history and development of the collection and the men's movement itself. Barton says that the collection began with a donation facilitated by MSU Professor Bruce Curtis and has continued to grow robustly based upon Barton's support and active gathering of conference materials. Barton also outlines the core tenets of the different branches of the men's movement and says that his own involvement in the movement has helped him develop the collection.
