- Description:
- This woman's one piece, blue silk taffeta dress has a pattern of tiny blue and white checks. The garment has a fitted bodice that buttons down front, and its buttons are covered by a panel of pleated blue iridescent taffeta. A band of embroidered iridescent blue taffeta, having a peacock-tail design, is edged with maroon around the back-neck, and over the shoulders. The front forms a V-shaped waist that separates toward the hips. The same material and pattern are around the cuffs of the long sleeves. The dress has a high neck with mandarin- like collar that is edged with tulle. The skirt front is of solidly pleated blue iridescent taffeta. It has a wide pleated drape of same material around the skirt at the hip line, and two ruffles at its bottom are under ruffles of maroon. Bows of blue taffeta, with blue fringed edges, are around the skirt's bottom. The back of the skirt is blue checked taffeta (same as bodice) that is gathered to form a bustle. There is a large bow of maroon grosgrain ribbon in back. The dress is entirely lined.
