The image shows a black and white drawing of the Battle of Lake Erie at the center which is surrounded by American flags and patriotic/nautical designs as well as oval insets that show the head and shoulders pictures of six men. The six men shown are: Oliver H. Perry, Stephen Decatur, Johnston Blakely, William Bainbridge, David Porter, and James Lawrence. Printed text beneath the image shows "Lith. & Pub. By N. Currier, 2 Spruce St., N.Y." Additional text shows "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1846 by N. Currier, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern District of N.Y." In the lower right corner, "No. 1" is also printed.
