- Michigan State University History Professor Ronen Steinberg delivers a talk entitled "Sex and the Bastille: the Marquis de Sade and the French Revolution." Steinberg traces Sade's role in the French Revolution from the tortures he described while in the Bastille to his position as section leader prior to the Reign of Terror. Steinberg also examines whether Sade was a revolutionary or just an ambivalent aristocrat trying to navigate a tumultuous period in history.
