- Three faculty members, Helen Brown, Margaret Large, and Marcella Faustman, dressed as court jesters. Brown began at Western in 1947 in Women's Physical Education and retired from the Dance Department in 1981. Large began in Women's Physical Education in 1949 and retired in 1979. Faustman began in the Music Department in 1951 and retired in 1977.

- Dr. Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. receiving an honorary Doctory of Laws degree at the June 1965 Commencement. Dr. James Miller and Dr. Dale Faunce are standing to either side of Shriver. The photograph appeared in Western Michigan University Magazine Vol. 23 No. 3. Shriver was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job Corps.

- Robert Limpus and Frederick Rogers standing in front of books, possibly the departmental library at Western Michigan College. Limpus became a member of the English faculty in 1947 and was appointed head of Basic Studies in 1956. He became Dean of General Studies in 1965 and retired in 1970. Rogers became a member of the English faculty in 1946 and was chair of the Department in 1956 until his retirement in 1971.

- Faculty members and 1952-1953 Fellowship awardees, Ralph Miller, Chester Hunt, and Elsworth Woods, standing around a globe. Ralph N. Miller, associate professor of English since 1946, was awarded a grant given by the Fund for the Advancement of Education, a branch of the Ford Foundation, to study in the United States. Chester L. Hunt, associate professor of sociology, was awarded a Fulbright grant for the 1952-53 school year to serve as a lecturer in sociology at the University of the Philippines. Elsworth Woods, professor of the political science department from 1949-1955, was selected for an instructorship in general education at Harvard University. After completing this study period, he headed of the Basic Studies program.
