- One lithograph copy of a plat map entitled "Plat of the City of Detroit as Laid Out by the Govr. and Judges." The plat is printed in black ink on white paper and shows the layout of property lines, lot lines, and right-of-way lines in downtown Detroit. Lot numbers, lot dimensions, right-of-way dimensions, and street names are also shown. Bearings are shown along the right-of-way lines of several principal streets including Michigan Avenue, Washington Grand Avenue, Miami Avenue, Monroe Avenue, Jefferson Avenue, and Woodward Avenue. The plat was drawn at a scale of 1 inch = 250 feet. A note in the lower left corner shows "I certify that this Plat contains a correct Plan of the City of Detroit so far as the materials in my possession have enabled me to prepare the same. Detroit, Jany. 8th 1831, Wayne County, Mich. Terry., John Farmer." Small printed text in the lower right corner shows "Bowen & Co., Lith., Philada."

It shows the state, county, and township boundary lines in the southern portion of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan as well as northern Indiana and Ohio. The principal meridian and base line for Michigan are shown along with township and range numbers for the public land survey of the state. Cities, towns, and major rivers are also indicated. Areas of private (French) claims are shown along the Raisin River and Detroit River. Inset maps are shown for the Straits of Mackinac, Green Bay, and Iowa County near the junction of the Mississippi and Little Platte Rivers. Lines of latitude are also shown and lines of longitude are given relative to "Washington City" (Washington, D.C.). Printed text beneath the title indicates that the map was engraved by "J.
