In view are many pedestrians, the Bagley Memorial Fountain, Hammond Building, Post Office, and City Hall. Signs read "Pere Marquette", "Canadian Pacific", and "D & C Lines". Printed on verso: Fort Street West is one of the leading business thoroughfares of Detroit. It connects the heart of the city with the immense manufacturing establishments in Delray. Cars leave its foot of Woodward Avenue for Woodmere, the Fort Wayne Barracks, Delray, Ecorse, Wyandotte, Trenton, Monroe, and Toledo. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Sep 6, 1909.

- Invitation to the formal opening and dedication of City Hall on July 4, 1871. The invitation is printed on yellow paper with a check pattern watermark. It reads: Detroit, June, 1871 Dear Sir: You are respectfully invited to the City of Detroit, as the guest of its Citizens, on the Fourth of July. In addition to appropriate ceremonies in celebration of the day, the occasion as been selected for the Formal Opening and Dedication of our new City Hall. It is desirable to have your letter of acceptable as early as the 15th inst., in order that time may be afforded for sending you the necessary tickets. Respectfully, etc., Wm. W. Wheaton, Mayor, C.C. - Sepia-toned photographic print depicting Cadillac Square as viewed from an elevated position near Randolph Street, facing west toward Michigan Avenue. The square is filled with rows of parked early automobiles. The Pontchartrain Hotel, City Hall, the Majestic Building, the Ford Building, Dime Building, and the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in Campus Martius are all in view. Visible businesses include Gregg Hardware; a bar; the Gayety Theatre; the Old Kentucky Whiskey Company; the Wobrock Hotel; the American Hotel; Schroeder Paint and Glass Company; Cadillac Market; a bowling alley; McIntosh Bar; the Gregory, Mayer, and Thom Company; Home Candy Works; the Family Theatre; the Sweeney-Huston Company; Weil and Company Furniture; F.G. Clayton Company, Clothing; and Cadillac Burlesque. There are also advertisements for Calumet Baking Powder and the Ringling Brothers Circus. The word "red" above an arrow pointing to the Gregory, Mayer, and Thom Company has been added in pencil. "Gray" and an arrow have been written above City Hall. A note on the verso adds, "Gregory, Mayer and Thom Building red brick with stone trimmings," as well as "c.1913-1919."

- Sepia-toned photo mounted on a black cabinet card with gold trim bearing an image taken during the 1891 National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic in Detroit. The photo was taken from an elevated position across Campus Martius, looking southwest, down Fort Street. Horse-drawn streetcars and their tracks are visible along both Woodward and Fort. City Hall and the base of the moonlight tower in front of it are visible on the right. At the left is the Hammond Building, draped in banners and indicated with a blue "X," and the Bagley Memorial Fountain. "Left side Detroit City Hall - (Mother's bank marked X.)" handwritten on verso.
