- Description:
- One "Map of U.S. Lake Survey Basin at Fort Wayne." The map consists of black ink on linen and shows the dock and frontage along the Detroit River that were occupied by the U. S. Lake Survey Office at Fort Wayne. A seawall is also shown at the upstream side of the basin. Water depths are indicated in the vicinity of the basin to the nearest tenth of a foot and are referenced "to a plane 5 feet below the capping." The names, "Wm. J. Marshall," and "Drouillard's Boathouse" are shown on the adjacent "Crane Estate" property that is located immediately northeast of the fort property. The title block on the left side of the sheet indicates that the map was "Made under the direction of Major W. L. Fisk, Corps of Engineers, and E. E. Haskell, Chief Asst., Engineer," and is dated June, 1903. A note in the lower right corner shows that the map was drawn at a scale of 1 inch = 20 feet.

- Black and white postcard depicting the Belle Isle Bridge, in the aftermath of the fire, as viewed from the west. Amid the columns, only one truss remains near the center of the frame. An insert in the upper left corner provides a view along the remains of the length of the bridge. Rubble sits in the water near the closest column. A single truss is in the distance. "W.D. Benham Co., Detroit, Mich." printed on verso.

- Print containing six engravings, taken from the booklet, Souvenir of Detroit & Exposition, depicting locations in Detroit, spread across two leafs. The long image at the top right is a scene, captioned, "Detroit harbor showing water front of city and character of shipping." Several dock workers move bags and barrels at the bottom, while in the background, sailing ships and steamships travel along the river. Below, another long panel depicts a north-facing view of Woodward Avenue, extending from Campus Martius. Shops on the corner of Michigan Avenue, and Woodward Avenue, including Hudson and Symington are depicted. The Opera House is also pictured, housing J.L. Hudson's. An optician, Hull Brothers Family Groceries, and Chas. A. Werner Glassware are depicted as well. Several moonlight towers are visible in the distance. Harper Hospital is in the topmost of the three panels, arranged vertically on the far right. Below are the police headquarters at Bates Street and Farmer Street and the house of correction at the present site of Eastern Market.

This folio, Part Seven, has a gray/green paper cover that is printed in brown text. There are seven interior pages which include printed text and sepia-toned photographic images that are entitled as follows: River Scene Bird's-Eye View of Peninsular Car Works Residence of H. W. - One folio series entitled, "Detroit Illustrated," that was published in 14 parts by H. R. Page & Company of Chicago. This folio, Part One, has a gray/green paper cover that is printed in brown text. There are three interior pages which include dark brown printed text and a sepia-toned photographic image entitled, "River Scene." The printed text shows a "Preface" section by the publisher and "The Story of Detroit" by Charles S. Hathaway. It appears that several pages of text are missing.

- One print entitled "Detroit 1888." The print consists of four engraved drawings that have been printed in black ink on white paper. The three smaller drawings at the top are entitled (left to right): "Detroit in 1705," "Detroit in 1834," and "Detroit in 1820." The large drawing along the bottom shows a panoramic view of the Detroit skyline as seen from a hotel balcony. Printed text beneath this view notes "These cuts are taken from Lyman E. Stowe's book, 'Poetical Drifts of Thought; or Problems of Progress,'" "Population 250,000," and "From a photograph taken from the balcony of the Crawford House, Windsor." A black ink stamp near the lower right corner shows "Mildred K. Stowe, 1325 Madison Avenue, Detroit, Mich."

A small crowd of people pose on the right end of the tress. A small boat with a smokestack, and striped awnings and curtains is docked in the foreground. A man in a knee length coat stands alongside it. "First Belle Isle Bridge (drawbridge)" is handwritten on verso.

- Print. Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print, entitled "Detroit River Tunnel, No. 8. October-1907," depicting the construction of the Michigan Central Railway Tunnel. A barge equipped with two cranes is shown aside two pairs of buoyancy cylinders. Two upright cylindrical sections as well as an alignment mast protrude from the water in front of the nearest pair of cylinders. A small boat, a barge, and a tug are behind the further set of cylinders. On the left, behind a rubble-covered dock, a portion of a loaded railroad car ferry with four stacks is visible. Photo is mounted to white cardstock, onto which is printed the title and a caption: Section No. 1 - Showing section completely submerged on even keel, supported by buoyancy cylinders. Note white mark on alignment mast which will mark surface of water after second lowering. This is accomplished by the admission of water in compartments of cylinders. "C.M. Hayes & Co. Detroit" stamped into matting as well. Photo and matting were store inside of large white cardstock frame.
